Title: Information Systems Architect – Advanced
Location: Remote (Travel as required for business needs)
Duration: 12 Months
Plan, design, develop, and implement architecture for systems, applications, security, and other highly specialized phases of IT architecture.
Apply technology and system design strategies to align with organizational strategic business objectives for Health-IT.
Systems include Nextgen Healthcare’s EHR, PM, EDR, NGShare, NG Mobile, MIRTH, eZmar, and Symmetry.
Provide expertise in Health-IT, including multi-tiered architectures, enterprise applications, data management systems, enterprise security, and hardware systems supporting EHR, HIE, and eMAR.
Lead the planning and evolution of Health IT architecture design and strategy.
Collaborate with executive leadership to develop technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with organizational goals.
Ensure compliance with security standards and state-level IT directives.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement technologies and vendor solutions.
Develop policies, processes, and management controls to enforce architectural standards.
Provide leadership in strategic planning, security compliance, change management, and governance activities.
Stay current with market trends and emerging technologies to guide long-term strategy.
Support implementation and ongoing operations of electronic health records (EHR) systems and related healthcare technologies.
Lead EHR implementation tasks, including build, testing, training, and go-live activities in collaboration with vendors.
Integrate EHR systems with external platforms (e.g., offender management systems, LIS, PACS, pharmacy).
Define reporting requirements and develop reports from the Nextgen database.
Facilitate participation in public and private health information exchanges.
Work with medical and mental health providers to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance patient care through technology solutions.
Recommend and evaluate hardware/software purchases.
Provide regular project and status updates to leadership.
Expertise in Health-IT architectures, enterprise systems, security, and emerging technologies.
Strong leadership and organizational planning abilities.
Ability to manage technical staff and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
In-depth understanding of EHR systems, health data standards, and information exchanges.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field (Relevant experience may substitute for degree).
Experience:
10+ years of experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
5+ years of experience with Nextgen EHR, PM, and EDR.
1+ year of experience with ICD-9/ICD-10.
5+ years of experience with healthcare data interface standards and HIE technologies.
Experience designing and implementing enterprise-level architecture (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid).
Certification: Nextgen Certification (Required).
Advanced Nextgen Healthcare expertise, including Template Editor and custom template development.
Knowledge of HIPAA, ICD-9/ICD-10, healthcare-specific data standards, and HIE technologies.
Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Experience with HL7, SQL, Crystal Reports, eMAR, Mirth, PACS, CIPS/Fusion, Merge.
Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
Additional SQL expertise.
