Job Title: Patient Support Specialist (PSS)
Location: Lakeland, FL
Assignment Type: 10-Week Contract
Hours: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Break: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
We are seeking a dedicated Patient Support Specialist (PSS) to provide administrative and front-facing patient support in a busy healthcare environment. This role is ideal for professionals with experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) who are comfortable with both front and back office responsibilities. Phlebotomy is not required.
The PSS plays a vital role in maintaining a smooth and welcoming experience for patients, supporting clinical staff, and ensuring accurate documentation and communication.
Schedule and confirm patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals
Greet patients and visitors; assess needs and direct accordingly
Answer incoming calls and provide general information or route as needed
Manage patient check-in/check-out process
Ensure completion of all required privacy and compliance forms
Collect co-pays and handle financial transactions accurately
Maintain and update patient charts, reports, and correspondence
Support front office functions to promote efficiency and a positive patient experience
Note: This role does not include lab integration tasks
Experience:
2–3 years in a healthcare or medical office environment – Required
Previous Medical Assistant experience with front and back office duties – Strongly Preferred
Skills:
Excellent customer service and communication abilities
Proficient with EMR systems and general computer applications
Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
Professional and friendly demeanor
Education & Certifications:
Medical Assistant experience is required
Certification preferred but not mandatory
Phlebotomy experience is not required
