Location: Lakeland, FL
Assignment Type: 10-Week Contract
Hours: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Break: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Patient Support Specialist (PSS) to provide administrative and front-facing patient support in a busy healthcare environment. This role is ideal for professionals with experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) who are comfortable with both front and back office responsibilities. Phlebotomy is not required.

The PSS plays a vital role in maintaining a smooth and welcoming experience for patients, supporting clinical staff, and ensuring accurate documentation and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals

  • Greet patients and visitors; assess needs and direct accordingly

  • Answer incoming calls and provide general information or route as needed

  • Manage patient check-in/check-out process

  • Ensure completion of all required privacy and compliance forms

  • Collect co-pays and handle financial transactions accurately

  • Maintain and update patient charts, reports, and correspondence

  • Support front office functions to promote efficiency and a positive patient experience

  • Note: This role does not include lab integration tasks

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2–3 years in a healthcare or medical office environment – Required

  • Previous Medical Assistant experience with front and back office duties – Strongly Preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities

  • Proficient with EMR systems and general computer applications

  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills

  • Professional and friendly demeanor

Education & Certifications:

  • Medical Assistant experience is required

  • Certification preferred but not mandatory

  • Phlebotomy experience is not required
