Job Title: Dietitian / Nutritionist
Location: Syracuse, NY 13215
Duration: 3-month contract (extendable)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $70/hour

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Dietitian/Nutritionist with a strong background in critical care to provide comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy and assessments for patients of all ages. The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical skills, including CNSC certification, and a proven ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team to improve patient outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Inpatient and/or Critical Care nutrition.

  • CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and nutrition assessments for infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, documenting findings in the medical record.

  • Assess nutritional status using screening tools, identify malnutrition, and implement targeted interventions to improve patient health, reduce length of stay, and lower medical costs.

  • Utilize facility-approved protocols to initiate, modify, or implement nutrition-related orders, including supplements, dietary modifications, nutrition-related lab tests, medications, and patient education.

  • Manage nutrition support therapies (enteral and parenteral) by selecting appropriate formulas, adjusting rates based on needs or lab results, and adding necessary medications or supplements.

  • Participate in facility-wide and departmental Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives to enhance patient care and streamline processes.

  • Attend departmental meetings, staff development sessions, patient care rounds, and professional programs to stay current with best practices.
