Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Pediatric Bio Behavioral Unit
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Pay Range: $27 – $37/hour
Shift: Days (07:00 – 19:30), every other weekend, some holidays

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Pediatric Bio Behavioral Unit. This role requires a professional who can provide high-quality nursing care in an acute inpatient setting, working closely with pediatric patients in a behavioral health environment.

Qualifications:

  • Current New York State LPN license

  • CPR certification (current or able to obtain/re-certify)

  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (inpatient experience preferred)

  • Pediatric experience preferred; psychiatric nursing experience required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) highly desired

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care in alignment with the established care plan under the direction of the primary or associate nurse

  • Perform patient care functions in an acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision

  • Greet and prepare patients for exams, record vital signs, and measure patient progress

  • Assist during exams and procedures, including administering injections and supporting routine tests (e.g., paps)

  • Set up trays for injections and procedures

  • Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas in a clean and organized manner

  • Assist with general administrative duties such as reception, appointment scheduling, chart preparation, and filing

  • Contact insurance providers for authorizations and referrals; coordinate with primary care physicians for new or extended referrals

  • Observe and report patient responses to treatments and interventions

  • Participate in unit management activities and contribute to a collaborative care environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Inpatient hospital experience

  • EKG application skills

  • Pediatric and psychiatric care experience
