Position: Senior Cloud Security Engineer
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Columbia, SC (Hybrid – 2 days onsite, 3 days remote) (Need to apply only local candidates)
Travel: Occasional travel required for customer engagements

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join our team for a 12-month engagement. The ideal candidate will collaborate with product owners, application teams, network, and security professionals to design, develop, and implement secure cloud-based solutions in both public and hybrid environments. This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and security, with a strong emphasis on AWS and Azure platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure and applications (AWS and Azure).

  • Develop and implement cloud security automation and accelerators.

  • Support and enhance SIEM, SOAR, and XDR solutions with Security Operations teams.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve configuration issues across development, testing, and production environments.

  • Ensure compliance with industry security and privacy standards (NIST, HIPAA, PCI, SOX, CMMC, etc.).

  • Implement Zero Trust architectures and secure cloud frameworks.

  • Participate in documenting security controls, tool deployments, and incident responses.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to derive security requirements and ensure successful solution delivery.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5–10 years of experience in information security and engineering.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing and managing AWS and Azure cloud environments.

  • Strong background in cloud security architecture, automation, and operations.

  • Experience with Palo Alto VM-series firewall deployment and management in cloud environments.

  • Proficiency in documenting security tools, configurations, and incidents.

  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written.

  • Prior experience working with state or local government clients is highly desirable.

Education & Certifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

  • Valid AWS or Azure cloud certification.

Preferred Skills & Technologies:

  • Experience with security tools and platforms such as:

    • Palo Alto VM-series, Prisma Cloud, Forescout, Cisco Umbrella, F5 Load Balancers

  • Knowledge of secure CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native security controls.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional

  • SC-100 – Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect

  • Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE)

  • PCNSA / PCNSE – Palo Alto Certifications
