Position Overview:

A premier healthcare facility in New York City is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) – Wound Care Specialist. This role focuses on delivering expert care in wound, ostomy, and continence management while supporting education, advocacy, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient interviews and focused assessments for wound, ostomy, and continence needs

  • Develop individualized care plans, recommend medications and treatments

  • Monitor treatment progress, document outcomes, and assess staff performance

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate referrals or escalated care

  • Educate patients and families on wound prevention and post-treatment care

  • Lead staff training, onboarding, and continuing education sessions

  • Assess patients at risk for pressure injuries and initiate preventive protocols

  • Participate in quality improvement projects, including incidence studies

  • Deliver culturally sensitive patient education

  • Manage wound care equipment and tracking (e.g., NPWT, specialty beds)

  • Stay current with certifications and best practices through ongoing education

  • Help patients navigate and access relevant community care resources

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience

  • Demonstrated wound care and colostomy expertise

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active New York RN License (Primary Source Verified)

  • AHA BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

  • At least one of the following certifications:

    • CWOCN, CWON, or CWCN – Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board

    • CWS – American Board of Wound Management

    • WCC – National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy
