Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
Pay Rate: $60 – $62.50 per hour (based on experience)
Overtime paid at 1.5x the hourly rate for hours over 40/week

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift assignment in Cooperstown, NY. This role involves caring for a diverse post-operative patient population in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, time management, and collaborative skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to post-op patients recovering from urology, neurology, bariatric, orthopedic, and plastic surgeries

  • Manage patients with complex needs such as chest tubes, NG tubes, JP drains, traction devices, and Heparin drips

  • Administer IV medications, continuous infusions, pain management therapies, and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)

  • Perform advanced wound care including dressing changes, wound vac therapy, Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), and Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)

  • Document care using EPIC: full admission assessments, shift notes, vital signs (every 4 hours), I&Os (every 8 hours), pain evaluations, and initial RN assessments

  • Collaborate with charge nurses and support staff in a team-based care model

  • Use monitoring tools such as MASIMO, bedside EKG, and bladder scanners to assess patient status

  • Thrive in a high-acuity unit with frequent admissions, discharges, and changes in patient condition

  • Ensure safe, timely, and compassionate care to meet patient needs

Requirements:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience preferred

  • Proficiency in EPIC and experience with surgical and telemetry patients strongly preferred
