Job Title: Drupal UI/UX Designer and Developer
Location: Everett, MA 02149
Duration: 10 Months

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Drupal UI/UX Designer and Developer for a contract role supporting a state education agency. This position focuses on designing intuitive, accessible interfaces and building responsive, high-performing web experiences using Drupal. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and be capable of mentoring others in Drupal theming, site building, and administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project goals and user needs

  • Design and develop Drupal websites using custom themes, templates, and front-end components

  • Lead content migration including taxonomy setup and metadata management

  • Develop responsive, standards-compliant front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

  • Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes

  • Administer and configure Drupal elements (content types, views, menus, permissions, etc.)

  • Conduct usability testing and user research to guide design and content

  • Ensure WCAG 2.1 compliance across all digital experiences

  • Optimize for web performance, cross-browser, and cross-device compatibility

  • Provide training and documentation for internal teams on Drupal development and content management

  • Mentor team members in Drupal best practices

  • Stay updated on Drupal, UI/UX trends, accessibility guidelines, and related web technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4–6 years of experience in UI/UX design and front-end development

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Drupal 9+ (theming, site building, admin)

  • Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards

  • Experience with Drupal content migration and taxonomy design

  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (Bootstrap, Foundation) and JS libraries (React, jQuery)

  • Working knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services

  • Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop)

  • Ability to document technical processes and train team members

  • Strong collaboration and communication across diverse teams

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or related field – or equivalent work experience.
