Job Title: Patient Registrar
Location: Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567
Duration: 5+ Months (with possible extension)
Shift: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (includes a 30-minute break)
Pay Rate: $23/hour (W2)
A healthcare facility in Cortlandt Manor, NY is seeking a Patient Registrar to support patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and administrative coordination. This position ensures timely and accurate data entry, patient communication, and third-party billing compliance.
Register and schedule patients, ensuring pre-certifications and authorizations are obtained for insurance billing.
Greet and register patients courteously and professionally.
Collect and enter demographic, insurance, and medical record information accurately into the system.
Perform insurance verifications (including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance).
Manage daily appointment schedules and resource availability.
Prepare charts and ensure all required documents and test results are available prior to appointments.
Coordinate with Health Information and physician offices for chart retrieval and filing.
Access and review lab and radiographic data using clinic systems.
Schedule medical procedures and exams based on requisitions and provider instructions.
Ensure all billing codes and authorizations are accurate and up-to-date.
Counsel patients regarding financial responsibilities and available payment options.
Collect copays and payments; issue receipts and maintain accurate financial records.
Prepare, compile, and verify data for reporting and recordkeeping.
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 6 months of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Minimum 1 year of clerical experience.
Customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong data entry skills (minimum 4,500 keystrokes/hour).
Effective telephone and computer usage skills.
Working knowledge of health insurance benefits and billing requirements (preferred).
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
