A high-acuity Pediatric Emergency Department in Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced Pediatric Emergency Room RN to deliver exceptional care to pediatric patients in crisis. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where critical thinking, trauma readiness, and pediatric expertise are essential. Candidates must also be willing to float to the adult ER when needed.
Deliver emergency care to pediatric patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions
Triage patients based on acuity and follow advanced pediatric emergency protocols
Administer medications, initiate IVs, monitor vital signs, and respond to emergencies
Communicate effectively with pediatricians, emergency physicians, and family members
Document assessments, interventions, and responses in Epic EMR
Respond to trauma codes and participate in rapid response teams as needed
Support patient stabilization and transport when applicable
Maintain a child- and family-centered approach in stressful or traumatic situations
Float to Adult ED based on departmental needs and competencies
BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
CPI or MAB (Crisis Prevention/Management certification)
Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric ER experience – Required
Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Center preferred
Large facility experience strongly preferred
Must be willing to float to Adult ED when needed
