Shift: Day or Night | 3x12-Hour Shifts (36 hours/week)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care unit in Utica, NY. This role is ideal for a nurse with strong critical care experience, excellent clinical judgment, and a passion for delivering exceptional care to post-op cardiac and critically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous monitoring and care to post-operative cardiac surgery and critically ill cardiovascular patients

  • Administer IV medications, manage ventilators, cardiac drips, and other life-sustaining interventions

  • Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary care teams to develop and implement care plans

  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatments using EMR systems

  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and unit policies

  • Educate patients and families on treatments, recovery, and discharge plans

  • Float to other ICU or critical care units as needed

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of New York (unrestricted)

  • Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or ICU experience (required)

  • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)

  • Proficient in use of EMR systems (EPIC experience preferred)

  • Strong communication, time management, and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to adapt in a high-pressure, fast-paced critical care environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ECMO, Impella, or IABP devices

  • CCRN certification (preferred but not required)

  • Previous experience in a travel nursing or contract setting
