Job Title: Housing Program Assistant

A public housing agency in Fairfax, VA is seeking an Housing Program Assistant to support its Homeownership Division with a variety of administrative and customer service tasks. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient daily operation of housing programs by assisting with data management, correspondence, stakeholder communication, and reporting.
Serve as the first point of contact for customers, stakeholders, and community members
Communicate professionally and clearly in both oral and written formats with internal and external stakeholders
Provide administrative support to Homeownership Division staff across multiple projects and duties
Assist with application intake, data tracking, monitoring, and reporting
Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Yardi to create, manage, and distribute documents and reports
Draft and prepare routine correspondence and responses to inquiries across various housing-related programs
Review, sort, copy, and route incoming mail and requests, identifying time-sensitive materials and appropriate staff follow-up
Perform related administrative duties as needed
Experience providing excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions
Ability to support professional and community stakeholders, including managing correspondence, reporting, data entry, and handling confidential information
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office technology
Strong written and verbal communication skills
File management, archiving, and ability to work independently or in a team environment
Experience working with housing or community assistance programs
Background supporting vulnerable populations or working in social services
