Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department - Day Shift

Location: Healthcare facilities across New Jersey
Duration: 13 Weeks
Hours: 36 hours per week (3 x 12-hour shifts)
Schedule: Every other weekend required, holidays as needed, no on-call, limited RTO

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department is responsible for providing urgent and specialized care for patients of all ages in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The RN must be prepared to assess and manage a variety of emergency situations, including trauma, stroke, sepsis, and STEMI cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, triage, and prioritize incoming patients with physical and mental health conditions.
  • Provide critical care interventions for stroke, sepsis, STEMI, and trauma patients.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely and effective patient care.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Monitor patient conditions and update care plans accordingly.
  • Float within the Emergency Department, including Adult ED, Pediatrics, and Intermediate Care Unit (IMC).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and interventions.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience.
  • Strong experience managing stroke, sepsis, and STEMI patients.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume ED, which can handle up to 220 patients per day.
  • Capability to manage up to 20 stroke patients per shift.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Licensure: New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Telemetry Certification
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • CEU Contact Stroke (4 Hours)

Languages:

  • English (Speak, Read, Write)

Additional Information:

This is a high-intensity, fast-paced Emergency Department requiring quick decision-making, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Candidates must be comfortable floating within the ED to Adult, Pediatrics, and IMC units.
