Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – ECMO Specialist

Location: Minneapolis, MN 55407
Duration: 13-Week Contract
Shifts:

  • Day: 3x12-Hour (06:30 – 19:00)

  • Night: 3x12-Hour (18:30 – 07:00)
    Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
    Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
    On-Call: Required, as needed


Position Summary:

Seeking an experienced ECMO Specialist who is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide critical care services in a high-acuity setting. This role requires hands-on ECMO management experience (not just experience working with ECMO patients). The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and the ability to manage complex airway and ventilator needs in adult critical care.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certifications:

    • Active RRT License (state license required; pending accepted if active by start)

    • ACLS, BLS, PALS

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years RRT experience

    • Minimum 1 year ECMO Specialist experience (required)

    • First-time travelers accepted if they meet ECMO experience requirements

  • Clinical Skills:

    • Airway Management: Endotracheal tube, suctioning, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement, tracheostomy care

    • Ventilator Management: CPAP, BiPAP, SIMV, transport ventilation, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, weaning

    • Oxygen Therapy: High-Flow Nasal Cannula, bag/mask ventilation, portable oxygen, ECMO protocols

    • Nebulizer Use: Cold, heated, ultrasonic, T-piece, trach collar

    • Medication Administration: Albuterol, Flovent, Inhaled Flolan, Nitric Oxide (INo), Racemic Epinephrine, and others

    • Diagnostic Procedures: ABG interpretation, arterial punctures, chest physiotherapy

    • Critical Care Experience: ARDS, pneumonia, bronchoscopy, COVID, fresh tracheostomy, aspiration cases

  • Charting System: Epic (Excellian)

  • Scrubs: Ceil Blue (provided) or Olive Green (traveler provides)

  • Parking: Flat hourly rate applies to all shifts


Additional Information:

  • No floating outside unit scope

  • Schedule preferences should be discussed with the department manager

  • Time-off requests ideally limited to no more than 5 days

  • Guaranteed hours may be reduced by up to 3 shifts without penalty
