Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Location: Philadelphia, PA 19104
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Assignment Duration: Approx. 3 months (Summer Coverage)
Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support an inpatient rehab setting under the direct, on-premise supervision of a licensed physical therapist. This is a short-term contract ideal for candidates with pediatric and inpatient rehabilitation experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical:

  • Review and interpret medical records to understand patient diagnoses, precautions, goals, and plans of care.

  • Deliver direct interventions (e.g., gait training, therapeutic exercises, modalities) in both individual and group sessions.

  • Treat patients in a variety of hospital settings, including ambulatory care.

  • Evaluate patient responses to interventions and document progress accurately.

  • Instruct patients and caregivers in home programs, focusing on mobility and safe transfers.

  • Communicate patient progress and challenges to the supervising physical therapist.

  • Assist with care coordination tasks, including interdepartmental communication and equipment tracking.

Academic & Development:

  • Identify and address personal learning needs through continuous professional development.

  • Meet departmental competencies and participate in mentorship opportunities.

  • Attend departmental and hospital in-services as appropriate.

Administrative:

  • Maintain productivity and ensure resource utilization aligns with departmental expectations.

  • Actively participate in departmental meetings and planning sessions.

  • Support upkeep and organization of treatment areas and therapy equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Pennsylvania State Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program

  • CPR Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)

  • Pediatric patient care experience (Required)

  • Inpatient rehabilitation experience (Required)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, families, and clinical teams
