Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to join a dynamic IT operations team supporting the upgrade and maintenance of enterprise network and telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves hands-on implementation and troubleshooting of Cisco-based technologies, wireless networks, and VoIP systems across multiple locations throughout New York City. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, the ability to work independently, and excellent customer-facing communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with infrastructure and telecommunications leads to implement and troubleshoot wireless solutions (Cisco and Meraki)

  • Configure and support Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, Cisco VoIP systems, and related technologies

  • Implement routing and switching protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, STP, VTP, QoS, ACLs, and others

  • Deploy and manage network security technologies including firewalls, IPSec, RADIUS, PKI, and VPN certificates

  • Conduct data gathering and site surveys for VoIP deployment readiness at multiple physical locations

  • Design LAN configurations that consider legacy systems and upgrade requirements

  • Oversee physical installation of network equipment including racking, cabling, and power setup

  • Maintain detailed asset inventories and documentation of deployments

  • Provide network design recommendations following Cisco best practices

  • Participate in project planning, maintenance scheduling, and change control processes

  • Travel to various NYC sites for hardware deployment, troubleshooting, and upgrades

  • Utilize network analysis tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, TCPDUMP, and Syslog for performance monitoring and diagnostics

  • Manage and operate Cisco Firepower, Cisco DNA Center, and Stealthwatch platforms

  • Support systems across multiple operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux

  • Create and maintain documentation including network diagrams, methods of procedure (MOPs), and support materials

  • Conduct security and performance assessments; recommend and implement optimization solutions

  • Provide off-hours support as needed during critical incidents or project rollouts

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience in a network engineering or technician role

  • Proven expertise in complex routing and switching environments

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki, Cisco Firewalls, Cisco DNA Center, and Stealthwatch

  • Strong independent work ethic and initiative

  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to installation and cabling

  • Proficiency with network patching and firmware upgrades

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and customer service skills

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration in client-facing environments

Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory):

  • Experience with Cisco WLAN, VPNs, and wireless router configurations

  • Understanding of Meraki Wi-Fi deployments and wireless certificate configurations

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, including incident, change, and problem management

  • Active CCNA certification is preferred
