Job Title: Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech)
Location: Neptune, NJ
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | 3x12 Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required
Contract Type: 13-week Assignment
Compensation: $40/hour
Job Summary: A leading healthcare facility is seeking a Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech I) to support operating room functions. This role is responsible for managing sterile instruments, ensuring patient safety during surgical procedures, and assisting the surgical team throughout all perioperative phases. The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality, culturally competent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and organize surgical instruments based on standardized surgical setups and surgeon preferences.
Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments throughout procedures.
Label and handle medications in accordance with protocols and safety regulations.
Manage and label surgical specimens according to OR policies.
Follow strict protocols for decontamination, sterilization, and sanitation of all surgical tools and environments.
Properly dispose of contaminated items such as needles and syringes.
Collaborate in perioperative team meetings to help assess and adjust care plans.
Provide support to the circulator nurse during patient care planning and delivery.
Keep surgical technologist competency checklists up to date, especially when rotating through specialty areas.
Meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling equipment up to 400 lbs., and standing throughout the shift.
Provide care that is respectful of and responsive to individual cultural needs.
Comply with all organizational policies, standards, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education (Required): Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent training.
Certification (Preferred): Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
