Job Title: Data Architect
Location: Jefferson City, MO (Hybrid – Minimum 10% On-Site Required)
Duration: 12 Months (Potential for Extension)
A government-focused organization is initiating a strategic investment in data architecture, governance, and integration to enhance consistency and collaboration across multiple agencies. As part of this modernization effort, experienced Data Architecture professionals are needed to lead technical initiatives and mentor internal teams in adopting cutting-edge data management practices and technologies.
Develop and manage a comprehensive data architecture framework
Establish and enforce data governance standards across multiple platforms
Evaluate emerging technologies and make strategic recommendations for implementation
Support long-term data infrastructure modernization efforts across cloud and hybrid environments
Design, develop, and manage architectural diagrams that define data organization, relationships, and system interactions
Create and maintain data models and database structures aligned with business needs
Architect and implement scalable data intake processes, optimization strategies, and storage solutions (e.g., data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses, big data environments)
Apply AI and machine learning techniques to data analysis and modeling tasks
Manage data ingestion processes for platforms including Azure and AWS
Implement data governance policies to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance
Design strategies for secure data storage, backup, and disaster recovery
Collaborate with data engineers and stakeholders to support enterprise-wide data accessibility and flow
Evaluate and recommend data storage platforms and technologies, including ServiceNow, AWS, OCI, GCP, and Azure
Provide expert consultation and ongoing support throughout the engagement
Each candidate must have at least 5 years of professional experience in the following:
Data Architecture, Data Analysis, Reporting, and Business Intelligence
Designing and managing cloud-based data environments across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
Implementing and maintaining Data Lakes, Lakehouses, Cloud Warehouses, and hybrid data platforms
Building robust data pipelines and infrastructure (ETL/ELT)
Expert-level knowledge of data modeling and database design
Experience with Master Data Management (MDM), Metadata Management, Data Cataloging, and Data Lineage
Establishing and maintaining Data Governance frameworks
Prior experience in public sector or state government data architecture is a plus
On-site presence of at least 10% (e.g., 2 days/month) in Jefferson City, MO
All resources will report directly to the designated project manager
High level of professionalism is expected in all communications and interactions
