Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical (Renal Unit)
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Shift: Night Shift | 8-week Contract
Schedule: Every 3rd weekend (Friday & Saturday nights + 2 Sunday nights per 4-week schedule)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join a specialized 24-bed medical/surgical unit with a focus on renal care, including kidney transplant patients. This unit provides a dynamic and rewarding environment ideal for nurses looking to deepen their clinical skills and experience.

Unit Highlights:

  • Specializes in kidney disease and post-kidney transplant care.

  • Patients include those undergoing living related, cadaveric, or paired exchange transplants.

  • Nurses are trained in peritoneal dialysis (manual and cycler methods).

  • Supports cutting-edge pharmacologic research studies.

  • Features an on-site outpatient kidney transplant clinic.

  • Care provided to a broad population of general med/surg patients.

  • Remote telemetry available for up to 8 beds.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.

  • Deliver culturally competent and age-appropriate care.

  • Administer medications, manage dialysis treatments, and monitor patient responses.

  • Collaborate with nephrologists, transplant surgeons, and interdisciplinary care teams.

  • Document care and patient progress in Epic EMR.

  • Support patients and families through complex treatment plans.

  • Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics and Ohio Nurse Practice Act standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active Ohio RN license or valid Compact license.

  • BLS certification (American Heart Association).

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience.

  • Experience with Epic charting system.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse and high-acuity setting.

Preferred:

  • BSN preferred.

  • Experience in renal nursing or dialysis is a plus.
