Job Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant
Duration: 5 Years
Location: Annapolis, MD (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant to support and optimize complex Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. This long-term hybrid role requires deep technical expertise in Linux systems administration, automation, and infrastructure operations to support mission-critical applications and ensure system reliability, performance, and security.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers across development, testing, and production environments.

  • Conduct system upgrades, apply patches, and implement security hardening measures.

  • Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and develop proactive solutions.

  • Automate administrative tasks using Ansible, Bash, or Python.

  • Administer Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and related ecosystem tools.

  • Support enterprise applications such as Oracle WebLogic, PeopleSoft, ElasticSearch, and others.

  • Ensure systems comply with cybersecurity requirements and support vulnerability remediation efforts.

  • Manage system backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to development and operations teams.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation for incident resolution.

  • Configure and manage NFS shares, Cron jobs, and other routine Linux operations.

  • Be available for on-site response within 24 hours when necessary.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Advanced hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.

  • Proven automation skills with Ansible, Bash, or Python.

  • Expertise with Red Hat Satellite and IdM.

  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities across OS, applications, and databases.

  • Experience working in 24/7 mission-critical enterprise environments.

  • Proficiency in configuring load balancing, disk partitioning, backups, and disaster recovery.

  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in Red Hat Linux system administration.

  • 10+ years of experience managing AIX (IBM pSeries) environments.

  • 15+ years of overall IT industry experience.

  • Familiarity with:

    • Oracle WebLogic Servers

    • Oracle and Progress Databases

    • Apache Web Servers

    • vSphere-hosted RHEL systems

    • Rubrik backup solutions

    • PeopleSoft, Mobius, ElasticSearch, Oracle OBI, CVS

  • Experience with Red Hat system performance tuning.

  • Background in application development and document imaging solutions.

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related IT field

  • Valid Red Hat Certification (Certification ID must be verifiable):

    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or

    • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
      (Both current and non-current certifications are accepted)
