Position Overview:
A healthcare facility in Cooperstown, NY is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to adults with diverse medical needs, including continuous cardiac monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care to adult patients in a medical-surgical/telemetry environment
Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry data; respond to abnormal rhythms and arrhythmias
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers
Perform clinical tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and oxygen therapy
Continuously assess patient status and report significant changes to the care team
Accurately document all care activities in the electronic medical record system
Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care
Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families
Adhere strictly to infection control and hospital safety protocols
Respond to medical emergencies and provide life-saving interventions, including CPR
Operate and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment and manage related supplies
Qualifications:
Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-acuity, fast-paced setting
Prior experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing strongly preferred
