Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant – Cardiology
Location: Hackensack, NJ 07601
Contract Duration: 3+ Months (Potential for Extension)
Schedule: Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week (Guaranteed)
Pay Rate: $21–$25/hour (Based on experience and certification)
We are currently hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with a passion for cardiology and a strong commitment to patient-centered care. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily clinical and administrative operations of a high-volume cardiology practice. The successful candidate will assist providers with examinations and procedures, perform a variety of diagnostic tests, and help maintain efficient, high-quality clinical workflows.
This role requires flexibility and a proactive approach, including the ability to float between sites in Hackensack, Paramus, and Glen Ridge as needed.
Set up examination and treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
Prepare patients for physician visits and clinical assessments
Record vital signs and medical histories in EMR accurately and efficiently
Assist physicians during exams and minor procedures
Perform and document diagnostic tests such as EKGs, pulmonary function tests, audiometry, Titmus vision screening, urine drug screens, breath alcohol tests, phlebotomy, and other lab work (as trained and evaluated)
Provide administrative support such as appointment scheduling, filing, and billing as needed
Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive patient information
Support a safe, welcoming environment for patients of diverse backgrounds and needs
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and training sessions as required
Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety regulations, and organizational standards
Physically able to lift/push a minimum of 10 lbs and stand for at least 6 hours per day
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
3 to 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant (cardiology experience highly preferred)
Strong EMR/data entry skills and familiarity with front-office operations
Excellent communication and patient-service skills
Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team setting
Willingness to travel to assigned clinical sites in Paramus and Glen Ridge
Current AHA BLS Certification
One of the following active certifications:
