Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology

Location:  Neptune, NJ 07754
Contract: 13 Weeks 
Hours Per Week: 36
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with cancer, particularly those specializing in leukemia and lymphoma in an inpatient setting. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to evidence-based oncology practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Assessment:
✔ Assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care for oncology patients.
✔ Perform ongoing patient evaluations based on medical diagnoses and functional health needs.
✔ Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments as per physician orders.
✔ Monitor patient responses to treatment, manage side effects, and provide supportive care.

Therapeutic Interventions & Monitoring:
✔ Manage patient symptoms, pain, and complications associated with cancer treatments.
✔ Monitor and document patient conditions, including vital signs and response to therapy.
✔ Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols for immunocompromised patients.
✔ Collaborate with oncologists and the care team to adjust treatment plans as necessary.

Documentation & Compliance:
✔ Maintain accurate patient records, including assessments, medications, and treatment responses.
✔ Advocate for evidence-based oncology care standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
✔ Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management, and post-hospital care.

Collaboration & Teamwork:
✔ Work closely with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic cancer care.
✔ Support patient emotional and psychological well-being by providing compassionate nursing care.
✔ Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning discussions.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Active RN license in the state of practice (or multi-state compact license).
Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support – AHA)
    Preferred Certifications:
  • Telemetry certification
  • ONS Chemo Certification
    Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an acute adult oncology setting, specializing in leukemia & lymphoma inpatient care.
    Education:
  • Required: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN)
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
