Job Summary:

We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the cleaning, processing, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, patient care equipment, and reusable medical/surgical items. Additionally, this position functions as a Case Cart Attendant for the Operating Room.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, sort, process, assemble, and sterilize patient care equipment and surgical instruments according to departmental policies.
  • Understand and properly use detergents and disinfectants while following Universal Precautions and PPE protocols.
  • Operate and load sterilizers (Steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris) and ensure all biological and Bowie-Dick tests are correctly performed, incubated, read, and recorded.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records, including proper labeling, load tracking, and verification of chemical integrators.
  • Use computerized instrument count sheets to ensure proper inventory and preparation.
  • Prepare and deliver case carts to operating rooms using doctor’s preference information to assemble necessary instruments, drugs, and equipment.
  • Communicate with nursing teams regarding missing items and report supply shortages to coordinators.
  • Perform physical tasks, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs., pushing/pulling 60 lbs., and standing for extended periods.
  • Adhere to hospital safety and compliance standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

βœ”οΈ Completion of Central Processing Course OR 1 year of instrument processing experience.
βœ”οΈ National Certification Required: CRCST or CBSPDT.

Education & Licensure:

πŸŽ“ High School Diploma or GED required.
