Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Step-Down

Location: Neptune, NJ 07754

Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse in the ICU Step-Down Unit is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. This includes planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care tailored to individual patient needs. The role involves prioritizing patient care based on assessments and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Primary Duties:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patient needs and medical diagnoses.
  • Develop and coordinate individualized care plans through ongoing assessments.
  • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and manage patient care.
  • Document care in alignment with standards of practice, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
  • Advocate for evidence-based practices and support innovative care delivery methods.
  • Provide patient-centered care in accordance with professional nursing models.
  • Float to units within competency as required.
  • Provide care in a Cardiac Vascular & Post-Surgical Step-Down Unit.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in a medical-surgical/telemetry unit within a major acute care hospital.
  • Strong MS/Tele background.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with ventilators.
  • Post-cardiac surgery care experience.
  • Post-surgical care experience.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
  • CEU Contact Stroke (4 hours)
  • Telemetry certification or successful completion of a competency exam
  • NJ State Professional RN license or multi-state compact license

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English (speak, read, write).

Schedule Details:

  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts).
  • Days per Week: 3, including every other weekend.
  • Holiday Requirement: 3 of 6 holidays.
  • On-Call: None.
  • Float Requirement: Floatable to similar med/surg telemetry units as needed.
