Job Title: Surgical Tech CWR

Duration: 13-week assignment

Hours Per Week: 40
Hours Per Day: 8
Days Per Week: 5

Schedule Notes:

  • Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • On-call: Required four times per month (two weekdays and two weekends).
  • No regular weekend shifts, but availability as needed is required.
  • Minimum of two years of OR Tech experience is required.
  • The candidate must be reliable and prioritize this position, ensuring no conflicts with other jobs.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Tech is responsible for ensuring proper handling, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical instruments while adhering to established protocols and maintaining accurate records. This role is pivotal in maintaining a sterile and organized surgical environment and ensuring quality patient care.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow standardization protocols for surgical setups and surgeon preferences.
  • Ensure instruments are organized and returned properly to designated areas after procedures.
  • Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments, and label medications per policy.
  • Handle specimens according to operating room policies.
  • Ensure decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
  • Remove used equipment and dispose of contaminated materials safely and correctly.
  • Participate in team conferences to plan and evaluate patient care. Assist the circulator in updating care plans.
  • Stay proficient in surgical technology skills, maintaining an updated checklist for equipment and cases.
  • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs., push/pull a minimum of 400 lbs., and stand for the duration of a shift.
  • Adapt and deliver care specific to patient needs, including age, culture, language, and any impairments. Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers at appropriate levels.
  • Adhere to organizational competencies and standards.

Required Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent training program.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Professional certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Highly reliable and must disclose any pre-existing scheduling conflicts before an offer is made.
