Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer 3 to analyze, evaluate, and optimize application performance across various tiers. The role involves working on large Oracle databases in AWS and Exadata environments, troubleshooting bottlenecks, and implementing scalable solutions. This position also requires effective communication and documentation skills for presenting technical findings to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate application performance across multiple tiers.
  • Identify and implement solutions for performance and scalability bottlenecks.
  • Conduct Oracle wait interface and event analysis.
  • Optimize performance for large Oracle databases in AWS (50+ TB) and Exadata clusters.
  • Perform performance tuning for single-node non-Exadata databases.
  • Use Linux shell scripting for SQL tuning and session tracing.
  • Generate and analyze AWR, ASH, ADDM reports, and Oracle AWR raw data.
  • Extrapolate system behavior under representative loads to predict full-load system performance.
  • Present complex performance analysis and metrics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot performance issues.

Skills and Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years in application performance analysis and tuning across multiple tiers.
  • Expertise in Oracle wait interface and event analysis.
  • Proven experience with performance tuning of large Oracle databases in AWS and Exadata environments.
  • Proficiency with Linux shell scripting, SQL tuning, and session tracing.
  • Strong understanding of AWR, ASH, ADDM reports, and Oracle internals related to database performance.
  • Ability to extrapolate application and database behavior to predict system performance.
  • Excellent technical writing, diagramming, and presentation skills, including proficiency in tools like Visio, Erwin, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years working on Agile sprint teams.
  • Experience with JIRA software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior experience with Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies.
  • Familiarity with handling PII/PHI data and HL7 standards.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry.
