Job Title: Product Specialist
Location: Remote

Job Description

Schedule: Includes every weekend (Saturday and Sunday), as well as some holidays on a rotational basis. Holidays will only be required a few times per year and will be paid at straight time.

Primary Responsibilities

75% Job Scheduling and Maintenance

  • Schedule jobs via Control-M/EM and make temporary and permanent modifications to existing jobs.

25% System Monitoring and Issue Resolution

  • Manage, monitor, and analyze mainframe and distributed systems batch workload.

  • Address job abends and collaborate with programmers to resolve issues.

Detailed Duties

  • Schedule pre-defined jobs within Control-M/EM and manage/maintain calendars within the tool.

  • Manage batch workload in a Production Control environment for both mainframe and distributed/client-server applications.

  • Identify and resolve common abends; escalate unresolved issues to management when SLAs may be jeopardized.

  • Document all issues in writing via ServiceNow tickets, including incidents and incident tasks.

  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally to support staff.

  • Utilize system tools such as TSO/ISPF, JCL, and BMC's Control-M/Enterprise Manager efficiently.

Mandatory Skills

  • Proficient with BMC Control-M/EM.

  • Experience with IBM mainframe tools such as TSO/ISPF and Utility Menu.

  • Strong knowledge of JCL, SDSF, and general mainframe systems.

  • ServiceNow experience is a plus.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Expertise in using BMC Enterprise Manager for scheduling batch jobs.

  • Familiarity with analyzing alert messages using tools such as Nagios, IP Monitor, and Tivoli.

  • Ability to recognize server problems and follow escalation procedures to maintain SLAs.

Required Experience

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in job scheduling and production control.

  • Expertise in managing batch workload for both mainframe and client-server applications.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with batch jobs.

  • Clear and effective communication skills (both written and verbal).

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science preferred or at least 2 years of college education.
