Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform preliminary screening examinations and support the Eye Center physicians in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct preliminary screening examinations for physician review, including:

    • Central and peripheral visual field tests.
    • Ocular motility tests.
    • Color vision tests.
    • Pharmacological pupil tests.
    • Tonometry, tonography, and tensilon tonography tests to determine intraocular pressure and pupil size, equality, and reaction prior to dilation.
  2. Manage the flow of patients examined by Eye Center physicians by:

    • Obtaining medical and personal data for patient charts.
    • Screening patients for conditions excluding ocular examination.
    • Arranging laboratory tests, ophthalmic photography, outpatient studies, and patient admissions/surgery as requested by physicians.
    • Alleviating patient and family concerns by explaining diagnostic procedures and methods of treatment.
  3. Calibrate and maintain all instruments used, including:

    • Bio-microscopes.
    • Lensometer.
    • Keratometer.
    • Tangent screen.
    • Slit lamp and tonometers.
    • Clean and stock consultation rooms and microbiology laboratory with drugs and other necessary supplies.
  4. Sterilize and set up instruments for ophthalmic surgical procedures; assist with minor office surgery, laser treatments, and operating room surgery as required.

  5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Licensing and Certification Requirements:

  • Required: Ophthalmic Technician Certification.

Languages:

  • English (Speak, Read, Write).

Schedule Notes:

  • Monday - Friday schedule varies between 8 AM and 4:30 PM.
  • EPIC and Ophthalmic Certification preferred.
