Job Summary:

The Patient Business Representative provides excellent customer service and support, focusing on meeting the needs of both external and internal customers. The role involves orienting new patients to clinic services and managing patient expectations. Key responsibilities include scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling appointments and may involve portal training for a call center to assist in setting up patient appointments within various medical services, including the Institute for Advanced Medicine and the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Prioritizes the needs of customers and ensures services, systems, and processes are patient-centered.
  • Fosters a positive team dynamic and work environment with peers, internal, and external stakeholders.
  • Contacts patients to schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments. Provides portal training and assists with inquiries regarding appointment scheduling.
  • Pre-visit planning, appointment reminders, documenting patient outreach, and maintaining a clean Department Appointment Report (DAR) in Epic to reduce no-shows and denials.
  • Completes the registration process, including obtaining required information, scanning documents, and confirming insurance.
  • Collects and reconciles copayments and manages cash drawers daily.
  • Disburses and reconciles patient MetroCard distributions daily.
  • Monitors and works Referral and Registration Work queues daily, while maintaining Epic In-Basket pools and chat messages.
  • Refers calls related to patient care, directs calls to the appropriate personnel for clinical/administrative issues, and informs patients of next appointments or any changes in scheduling.

Skills & Experience Required: Proficiency in MS Office, EPIC, IDX, Excel, and Word.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Languages: English (Speak, Read, Write).
