Job Title: MRI Technologist

Location: New York, NY (Postal Code: 10003)

Duties:

  1. Performs clinical, technical, service, and administrative tasks.
  2. Conducts MRI imaging procedures, operates, and prepares specialized equipment for magnetic imaging.
  3. Assists, prepares, and positions patients for MRI procedures.
  4. Applies technical judgment to ensure diagnostic quality images based on protocols and patient needs.
  5. Educates patients about MRI procedures, including the process and instructions for the imaging area.
  6. Reviews patient safety questionnaires and follows MRI safety protocols before scanning.
  7. Ensures patient clearance before transitioning from MRI safety zones 2 to 3.
  8. Assists with administering contrast media and operates power injectors using aseptic technique.
  9. Positions patients and MRI coils for optimal study results.
  10. Scans and uploads patient-related documents.
  11. Appropriately labels all images following department SOP.
  12. Assists physicians as needed during procedures.
  13. Evaluates radiographs for quality and ensures timely transmission to PACS.
  14. Maintains cleanliness of the radiology room and equipment, including soiled linen removal.
  15. Ensures imaging room is stocked with necessary supplies and accessories for safe operation.
  16. Accurately records patient tracking data into the Radiology Information System (IDX).
  17. Schedules MRI exams in the Radiology Information System as required.
  18. Ensures all studies are completed and updated in the Radiology Information System promptly.
  19. Reports equipment issues or unsafe conditions to the supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  20. Adheres to infection control protocols to prevent infection spread.
  21. Attends in-services and professional development meetings as required.
  22. Maintains required licensure, including compliance with Article 35 of the Public Health Code.

Skills: Reference Duties for required competencies.

Education: Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.

Licensing Requirements:

  • New York State License (L.R.T.).
  • NY State IV Certification.

Certification Requirements:

  • MRI certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • BLS certification.

Languages:

  • English (Speak, Read, Write)

Schedule Notes:

  • Sundays 8 AM - 8 PM.
  • MRI ARRT certification required.
