Licensed School Nurse 

Job Summary: 

  • To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. 
  • Provide professional nursing expertise to support the educational progress of all scholars including performing health screenings and assessments, administering and delegating medication administration and treatments to scholars according to district policy, per physician orders, and parental authorization, developing, training, and monitoring staff in the implementation of Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHP) and Emergency Plans (EP), as appropriate 
  • Delegate and provide oversight and consultation for designated nursing procedures and health situations to RN/LPN/UAP 
  • Promote a healthy school environment including providing health education to scholars and guardians/caregivers designed according to district guidelines and providing professional learning and training to school and system staff 
  • Facilitate the District’s compliance with State and Federal mandates related to the health of school district scholars 
  • Serve as a health educator to staff, scholars, and guardians/caregivers on health issues; when assigned to a building; manage the day-to-day duties of the health office; make appropriate and equitable use of resources and technologies 
  • Implement the goals and objectives of the district, school and/or program for which employed; maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars 
  • Initiate and sustain collaboration within and across departments, programs, building, and with public and private health care providers to improve scholar achievement 
  • Provide in-person, synchronous and asynchronous learning when applicable 
  • Willing to participate in district and building leadership activities and work collaboratively with others 
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet the needs of scholars, guardians/caregivers, the district, building, and department at the discretion of the supervisor.  

Minimum qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 
  • Must be registered with the Board of Nursing as a public health nurse. 
  • Licensed as a School Nurse through PELSB or ability to obtain license. 

 Preferred qualifications include: 

  • Strong computer skills 
  • Detail oriented 
  • Organized 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
