Location: Belle Mead, NJ 08502
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; 3 x 12 hr shifts; Every Other Weekend Required; 4/6 Holidays Required
Contract: 13+ Weeks

Pay Rate: $50 to $52 / hr.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a professional, registered nurse who excels in communication, collaboration, and leadership. The ANM supports the organization in executing the nursing strategic plan and priorities, participates in unit and hospital decision-making, and provides meaningful recognition to others. The role involves operational and administrative support to nurse leadership, coordinating staffing, supporting throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, and other departmental activities. The ANM works closely with the Nurse Manager to assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate nursing practice and care delivery systems.

General Job Functions:

  • Interpret, support, and communicate policies, standards, and procedures. Serve as a role model in professionalism and quality care.
  • Assist in identifying cost containment measures and alternative product utilization. Serve on-call based on unit requirements.
  • Assume special projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

In Collaboration with the Nurse Manager:

  • Participate in recruitment and retention strategies. Assist with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees.
  • Create unit goals aligned with hospital goals, mission and vision. Lead or participate in evidence-based practice projects or research.
  • Engage in unit-based or hospital-based shared governance committees or councils. Resolve conflicts and facilitate constructive resolutions.
  • Complete employee corrective action plans and counseling as necessary. Prepare and conduct periodic performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to and monitor the unit orientation process. Model cultural competence, social justice, and fairness.
  • Manage department budget and staffing needs. Optimize care efficiency and patient experience.
  • Lead Multidisciplinary Rounds and quality improvement projects. Ensure unit regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in staff education and competency. Mentor new employees and Charge RNs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience in the respective specialty or equivalent. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing patient needs.
  • Strong sense of accountability and focus on teamwork and ongoing education. Passion for delivering high-quality care with a strong patient focus.

Working Conditions:

  • Long periods of sitting with frequent standing and moving. Requires keying on computer terminal and constant verbal communication.
  • Frequent reading of correspondence, email, and reports. Exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Lifting up to 35 pounds. Extended wearing of PPE and surgical masks. Adolescent Residential Out of Home Treatment Facility.

Float Requirement: Yes, but all programs serve similar youth.

Preferred Skills & Experience: Supervisor or Charge Nurse experience highly preferred.

Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Preferred Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Current and valid New Jersey or Compact Registered Nurse license required.
  • BLS (AHA) required.
  • National Certification acceptable to the Recognition Program and appropriate to your current specialty (within two years of hire) required.
