Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
(No Weekends, No Holidays, No On-Call, No Float unless needed)

Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Scheduling Coordinator to join our team in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Scheduling Coordinator plays a vital role in coordinating patient appointments and managing precertification processes, ensuring that all necessary steps are followed for smooth and efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with referring physician practices to gather clinical information, verify and intake patient insurance details, and handle precertification and authorization processes.
  2. Manage precertification procedures by collecting and entering insurance information into the system.
  3. Utilize the Insurance Eligibility Verification system and clearly explain the process to patients.
  4. Contact insurance companies to verify benefits and coverage for patients.
  5. Obtain the necessary insurance information for procedure precertification.
  6. Schedule patient appointments following departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  7. Request and retrieve medical records and pathology reports from hospitals, clinics, or physician offices as needed.
  8. Maintain accurate patient history and appointment files by entering data into the computer system.
  9. Provide copies of the daily departmental schedule to patient transport and security teams.
  10. Collect and post co-pays and deductibles in the finance system in accordance with established cash collection/reconciliation procedures.
  11. Process all requests for medical records efficiently.
  12. Identify and address the specific needs of the patient population, including age, culture, language, and other factors, ensuring effective communication and care.
  13. Adhere to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a changing environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Two years of progressive experience in a medical office.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of surgical coding (CPT and ICD-10) is preferred.

Education:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

Language Proficiency: English (Speak, Read, Write)
