Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: As needed
No On-Call Requirement

Float Requirements: Float within department - ED Adult, Peds, IMC

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for delivering critical care to patients in urgent and trauma situations. ED RNs must be equipped to handle a wide array of emergency scenarios, providing specialized care for patients of all ages. This role requires quick and accurate assessment of incoming patients, prioritizing their injuries and medical needs to deliver immediate, effective care. Strong experience with stroke, sepsis, and STEMI patients is essential, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in emergency situations, assessing and prioritizing patient needs swiftly and accurately.
  • Develop and implement effective nursing care plans based on clinical knowledge and patient conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital personnel to ensure clear understanding of patient care.
  • Perform a wide range of professional nursing services, adapting to the fast-paced and high-pressure environment of the ED.
  • Manage care for patients with acute and complex conditions, including stroke, sepsis, and STEMI.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 18 months of Nursing experience in an ED environment.
  • Demonstrated performance and practice in an ED setting, with recent experience within the past six months.
  • Strong experience managing care for stroke, sepsis, and STEMI patients.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department, with a patient volume that can reach up to 220 per day.

Educational Requirements:

Required:

  • Current CPR Health Care Provider Certification.
  • BLS - AHA.
  • ACLS - AHA.
  • NIHSS.
  • PALS - AHA.
  • New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.

Language Requirements: Proficiency in English (speak, read, write).
