Mondays: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Tuesdays: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Wednesdays: 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Thursdays: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Fridays: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

No weekends, no holidays, no on-call

Job Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will assist in providing clinical care to select patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner. The role also includes providing clerical office assistance.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare exam rooms, treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments. Prepare patients for physician visits and examinations, assisting as directed.
  • Take patient vital signs and record them in medical charts. Understand the proper function and care of special equipment.
  • Perform EKG, PFT, Audiometry, Titmus Test, UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab tests after completing performance evaluation checklists.
  • Maintain records by completing patient records as directed; file records and reports.
  • Assist with collections/billing procedures as needed. Use computer software to maintain office systems.
  • Identify and respond to issues of confidentiality.
  • Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
  • Communicate with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Education:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Certifications & Licensure:

Required: AHA BLS and "one of the following" certifications:

  • CMA-NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
  • CMA-NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
  • CMA-AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
  • RMA-AMT (American Medical Technologists)
  • RMA-NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
  • AMCA (American Medical Certification Association)
  • NCMA (National Certification Medical Association)

Language Requirements: Proficiency in English (speak, read, write).
