Position Title: Dental Hygienist Assistant
Location: Fredericksburg, VA
Job Type: Contract (Travel or Local)
Shift: Per Diem
Duration: Up to 52 weeks (based on candidate preference)


Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist Assistant to support clinical operations and assist in delivering high-quality preventive oral care. This role plays a key part in ensuring an efficient workflow, maintaining a sterile environment, and enhancing the overall patient experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all instruments and materials are ready for procedures
  • Assist the dental hygienist during cleanings, scaling, and preventive treatments
  • Set up and break down operatories in accordance with infection control protocols
  • Record patient vital signs and medical histories as required
  • Sterilize, process, and organize dental instruments following compliance standards
  • Escort patients and prepare them for treatment to maintain smooth patient flow
  • Provide oral hygiene instructions and post-treatment care guidance to patients
  • Maintain accurate patient records and assist with clinical charting
  • Monitor inventory and restock hygiene supplies as needed
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment at all times

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent OR minimum of one (1) year of dental assisting or hygiene support experience
  • Basic understanding of dental procedures and infection control practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (if required by facility)
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience

Preferred:

  • Experience assisting a dental hygienist or dentist in a clinical setting
  • Familiarity with dental software systems
  • Completion of a dental assisting or hygiene support program
  • Dental Assistant Certification or related clinical certification
