Position: Network Engineer

Location: Richmond, Virginia (Onsite)
Duration: 3–6 Months (Contract to Hire)

Overview

Seeking a skilled Network Engineer to manage and support enterprise network, telecommunications, and internet infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in routing, switching, SD-WAN, and network security, along with hands-on expertise in Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto environments.

Key Responsibilities

Network Operations & Support

• Manage telecommunications, network, and internet services

• Monitor network performance using monitoring tools and ensure SLA compliance

• Perform network analysis, traffic tracking, and bandwidth optimization

• Support SD-WAN infrastructure and remote/branch office connectivity

Infrastructure & Security

• Configure and support Cisco switching and routing environments

• Manage Meraki wireless networks and Palo Alto firewalls

• Implement and support VPN technologies (GRE/IPSec)

• Work with Network Access Control (NAC) tools (e.g., Cisco ISE, PortNox)

• Support cloud networking, primarily in Microsoft Azure

Documentation & Collaboration

• Create and maintain network diagrams (Visio or similar tools)

• Maintain accurate system documentation and inventories

• Manage telecom equipment procurement and licensing

• Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors for implementation and support

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

• Minimum 5 years of IT experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in telecom or network operations

• Cisco Switching & Routing

• Meraki Wireless

• Palo Alto Firewalls

• SD-WAN configuration and support

• VPN technologies (GRE/IPSec)

• Network monitoring and configuration management (NCM) tools

• Azure Cloud Networking

Preferred Certifications

• CCNA / CCNP / CCIE

• Palo Alto Certifications (PCNSE or equivalent)
