Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience to support surgical teams in a fast-paced hospital operating room environment. The Surgical Tech will assist surgeons and nurses during cardiovascular and general surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique and ensuring proper surgical equipment preparation.

Schedule

• Schedule: 5x8-hour shifts

• Shift Time: Day shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)

• Hours Per Week: 40 hours guaranteed

• Call Requirement: Extensive call required

• Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends

• Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays

• Floating: May be required to float to General OR as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, surgical equipment, drapes, and solutions

• Maintain sterile field and adhere to AORN standards and infection control protocols

• Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures

• Assist with retractors, sutures, and surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments)

• Assemble and verify functionality of sterile and non-sterile surgical equipment

• Handle surgical specimens and prepare them for laboratory processing

• Assist with patient transport and positioning on the operating table

• Apply surgical dressings and support patient transfer to recovery areas

• Assist with operating room turnover and preparation for upcoming cases

• Maintain specialty surgical instruments according to department protocols

Required Qualifications

• Minimum Experience: 2+ years of CVOR Surgical Technician experience

• Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician / Operating Room Technician program

• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) required

• Must be able to float to General OR

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience in a hospital setting
