Job Title: Patient Care Associate
Location: New York, NY 10019
Schedule: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Shifts:
Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:15 PM (5 days a week, every other weekend required)
Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (5 days a week, every other weekend required)
Pay Rate: $20 - $21 per hour
As a vital member of the clinical care team, the Patient Care Associate provides direct patient care and support to promote a patient-centered approach within the healthcare setting. This role involves assisting patients with daily activities, performing basic medical procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting overall patient well-being under the supervision of registered nurses.
Assist patients with daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, mouth care, and toileting.
Perform and document vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respirations).
Collect specimens, perform venipuncture, EKGs, and apply compression devices.
Support patient mobility, including ambulation and repositioning.
Maintain skin integrity through proper care and monitoring.
Provide post-mortem care as required.
Assist with pain management by obtaining pain ratings and reporting to nursing staff.
Ensure patient rooms remain clean, organized, and comfortable.
Transport patients via stretchers or wheelchairs as needed.
Set up and assist in clinical procedures under RN supervision.
Perform scheduled patient rounding and document findings.
Follow proper infection control protocols, including isolation status procedures.
Deliver and collect patient trays, assist with dietary orders, and report dietary concerns to the RN or Dietitian.
Answer patient call systems and direct requests to appropriate staff.
Greet visitors and provide assistance in navigating the facility.
Operate the pneumatic tube system as needed.
Update communication boards and maintain accurate admission/transfer/discharge records.
Assemble and maintain medical records.
Assist with emergency transport and clean-up.
Perform discharge bed-making and cubicle/unit stripping.
Maintain medical supplies and ensure proper care of equipment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively within the healthcare team.
Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to document and relay critical information.
Physical stamina and manual dexterity to handle patient care tasks.
Flexibility to work in diverse clinical conditions and adapt to various medical technologies.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification – AHA required.
